Dr. Kristen Powell graduated summa cum laude from the Sally McDonnell Barksdale Honors College at the University of Mississippi in 2014. She received her Medical Degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2018. While in medical school, she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and awarded the Blair E. Batson Award for Excellence in Pediatrics. She completed her pediatrics residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 2021.
Dr. Powell is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics, certified in Neonatal Resuscitation and Pediatric Advanced Life Support, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Powell has a special interest in breastfeeding medicine and is a member of the Academy of Breastfeeding Medicine.
A native of Jackson, MS., Dr. Powell and her husband fell in love with Nashville during her residency training and have made it their home. Dr. Powell is the mother of twin boys. In her spare time, Dr. Powell enjoys playing with her boys and two dogs, cooking, going to the Farmer’s Market, reading, and spending time with friends.
