In the 1930s, just as pediatric medicine was being refined, Dr. James C. Overall opened the pediatric practice that would become Old Harding Pediatric Associates (OHPA). Many childhood illnesses were common at the time, with devastating effects on the health of children. It was in this challenging time that Dr. Overall set out to serve the children and families of Nashville. Then, in the late 30s, the growing practice added Dr. Joe Strayhorn, in a partnership that would span 35 years.

Over the decades, the practice grew. Locations changed. New medical developments came and new technologies were embraced. Through it all, OHPA helped improve the lives of countless Nashville children. Then, finally, Old Harding Pediatrics settled in its current home in 1974. The establishment of the Bellevue office came 13 years later in 1987.

Although pediatric care has made great strides since OHPA was founded, our current physicians share Dr. Overall’s original vision for state-of-the-art pediatric care that consistently seeks new opportunities to improve the health of children.

The physicians at Old Harding Pediatrics are university hospital-trained, board-certified pediatricians. They stay abreast of new research trends and emerging clinical developments through continuing medical education.

Our physicians believe in the patient medical home, and we look forward to meeting your children, and most of all, helping them stay healthy, just like our founder did over eight decades ago.

It is an honor to serve you.
