At OHPA, we want you to feel like you know the physicians that are caring for your children! Here are some things you might not know about Dr. Vicky Phillips. What else would you like to know?
1.) What made you decide to be a doctor?
“I was a gymnast when I was younger, and I was amazed at what the human body could do so I wanted to learn more about it. After I stopped competing in gymnastics, I then coached gymnastics and cheerleading which is when I learned that I really enjoyed interacting and working with kids. This all led me to pursuing a career in pediatrics.”
2.) What was the best vacation you’ve ever been on?
“Best vacation is hard because travel is one thing I love. I loved spending time in Kenya. It’s a beautiful country with kind people. I firmly believe that traveling to places that are different than what you are used to helps to open your eyes and heart and encourages you to be more accepting of all people regardless of race, religion, culture, etc. I also love the outdoors and would like to see all the national parks. So far, Acadia, Yosemite, and the Grand Canyon have been some of my favorites.”
3.) What is your favorite comfort food?
“Macaroni and cheese! And dessert.”
4.) What is the best book you’ve ever read?
“I also love to read, so I can’t give you just one book. I can give a few authors though. Fredrik Backman and Greg Iles are 2 of my favorite fiction writers. Educated, I am Malala, and Five Days at Memorial are all excellent non-fiction books.”
5.) If you could meet one celebrity, who would it be?
“The Obamas! If I had to pick just one though, I’d pick Michelle.”
