Chris Smeltzer, M.D.

Dr. Chris Smeltzer received a Bachelor's degree from Baylor University and his Medical degree from Vanderbilt University. He also completed his residency at Vanderbilt University where he was Chief Resident of Pediatrics. While at Vanderbilt, Dr. Smeltzer received the prestigious Joe M. Strayhorn Award as well as the Robert C. Boerth Award. Dr. Smeltzer is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Amos Christie Society.

As a participant in Vanderbilt's Community Continuity Clinic Program, Dr. Smeltzer has trained and worked closely with the physicians at Old Harding Pediatrics since 1994. He has a particular interest in asthma, allergy and international adoption.

A native of Texas, he is married and has four children. Dr. Smeltzer enjoys woodworking, kids' sports and racquetball.

I didn't choose pediatrics. Pediatrics chose me. I have known since sixth grade I would be a pediatrician. Now, being here is a blast.
